Vincent van Gogh’s “Amandelbloesem”

This 3D printed broach based on van Gogh’s Almond flowers was commissioned directly by the van Gogh museum in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. I was asked to design a piece of sterling silver jewelry based on the works of Vincent van Gogh. I chose the “Amandelbloesem” painting because of the way that van Gogh draws and paints 3 dimensional objects. He clearly used brush strokes that follow the 3D shape of the branches and flowers. Using 3D software that allowed me to “Sculpt in the air” I literally “painted” the delicate branches in 3D. The process of 3D printing was the only way to create this unique piece. It was also designed to be worn as a necklace if so desired. This broach/necklace is available in only two places on earth, the van Gogh museum in Amsterdam, or right here in my web-shop.
